The Rossman Fold
[aka NAD(P)-binding fold]

A Rossman Fold generally contains the following elements:
1) a RH beta/alpha/beta motif,
2) a phosphate binding consensus sequence, GXGXXG,
3) six small hydrophobic residues,
4) a basic residue (Arg or Lys) at the beginning of the first beta strand,
5) a basic residue (Glu or Asp) at the end of the second beta strand.

NAD(P)-binding Rossmann-folds are contained in the following:

Tyrosine-dependent oxidoreductases
Short-chain dehydrogenases
Dihydropteridin reductase
UDP-galactose epimerase
Enoyl-ACP reductase
Lactate dehydrogenase
Malate dehydrogenase
Alcohol dehydrogenase
Glucose dehydrogenase
Quinone reductase
Formate dehydrogenase
Formate dehydrogenase
D-Glycerate dehydrogenase
Phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase
Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase
Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase
Dihydrodipicolinate reductase
6-Phosphogluconate dehydrogenase
Acyl-CoA dehydrogenase

Except for ADP-ribosylation toxins, which utilize NAD as substrate, all these enzymes are oxidoreductases, which use NAD or NADP as cofactor.
