Expectations and Goals

Summer research program participants are expected to:

(i) conduct full-time research for 10-weeks under the supervision of a faculty member in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry (NSF-REU or 3M funded) or in approved allied department (3M-funded)

(ii) present a brief description of his/her summer research project in week two

(iii) participate in professional development seminars and excursions offered by the program

(iv) submit an approved research summary/report at the end of the program

(v)  present an approved research poster at the end of the program

(vi) present a brief oral research presentation at the end of the program


The goals of the Research Experience for Undergraduates in Chemistry and Biochemistry at Georgia Institute of Technology are to:

(i) engage undergraduate students in research activities in an established and intensive research setting,

(ii) attract a diverse population of students from schools with limited research activities,

(iii) introduce students to the broad community of practicing chemists and various industrial and governmental research organizations in the Atlanta area, and

(iv) to encourage talented students to pursue graduate research.
